Fix your thoughts on Jesus By Samuel McDermott Scripture : Hebrews 3 vs. 1 (NIV) Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. Life is a wonderful adventure bespeckled with tests and hurdles along the way. Responsibilities, social life, and school may make it all seem like a juggling act. Consequently, we tend to become distracted and focus on the wrong things, thus leaving our minds open to the negativity of the enemy. Your thoughts can be the most brutal battleground to fight for. Nevertheless, when you keep your thoughts fixed on Jesus, He will guard your heart and mind and keep you pure. When we set our thoughts on Jesus, we do not dwell on the negative things of this world but rather on the positive attributes of the Kingdom of God. Trust in the Lord Morning verse Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways, submit to him and he will make your paths straight" (N.I.V). Morning Meditation We have always heard about trusting in God and applying our faith. However, how many times do we blindly trust in his unwavering provision? One of the most outstanding examples of trusting in God, as shown in the Bible, is through Abraham and the demand that God sacrifice his son. Abraham did not doubt God's will; sure enough, he followed God's instruction and placed his only son, the promise in his old age, on the sacrificial altar. His famous response was, "God will provide." We know that the story ended with a confirmation of that provision. Lesson Often, we are led by God to sacrifice things that are near and dear to us.
